DINE IN BROOKLYN

March 18th, 2004 (Brooklyn) -- Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz invites you to "Dine In Brooklyn", a Restaurant Week starting today April 15th through April 22nd presented by the Brooklyn Tourism and Visitors Center, which opened in February of 2004. The initiative is a marketing campaign to promote restaurants across the Borough and attract visitors from throughout the city as well as tourists to Brooklyn.

"Brooklyn's restaurant scene is all the rage in New York City - our food is quality, quantity and value", said Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz. "If you're into food, Brooklyn is the heartland!"

More than 90 Brooklyn restaurants have signed-on for restaurant week, and all have agreed to offer a prix fixe meal for $18.98. The fixed price was inspired by the year 1898 when Brooklyn joined New York City. The Borough President also wanted a price that is less expensive than Manhattan's pricey $30.04 for its restaurant week. The advertisement banner reads, "In 1898 we joined New York City now we invite New York City to join us to dine in Brooklyn's best restaurants for $18.98". Restaurant Week patrons will receive a free Spirit of Brooklyn poster, while supplies last, when using a MasterCard, the preferred payment card of Dine In Brooklyn.

"The vitality of the Brooklyn restaurant scene is a key ingredient in our borough's neighborhood and economic development", said Ken Adams, President of the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce."This campaign will help us share the excitement, fun and value of these unique eateries with the rest of the region. Too bad it's only a week!"
